No heat since last night?

A dead furnace
is not a
three-day problem.

Most Kelowna HVAC shops will book you in for Thursday. In January that's three nights with space heaters, or a July week at 34°C with the blinds shut. We built our whole schedule around not doing that to people — we hold slots open every single day for breakdowns.

01

You call, a person answers

Not a call centre in another province. Usually Dana, who has been booking our jobs for eleven years and can tell from your description whether it's urgent.

02

We give you a real arrival window

A two-hour window, and a text when the technician leaves the previous job. No "somewhere between 8 and 5."

03

Diagnosis is free, the quote is fixed

We find the fault, tell you the price in writing, and you decide. If you say no, you owe nothing — that's what no call-out fee actually means.

04

Most repairs finish the same visit

Our vans carry the parts that fail most: igniters, capacitors, contactors, blower motors, control boards for the common Lennox and Carrier units.

What we fix

Four things,
done properly.

We don't do ducts for new builds or commercial rooftop units. We do residential heating and cooling in the Central Okanagan, which is why we're fast at it.

Residential outdoor air conditioning condenser beside a brick house wall.

Air conditioning repair

Not cooling, freezing up, tripping the breaker, or running constantly. Capacitors, contactors, refrigerant leaks, condenser fan motors, thermostat faults.

Most repairs $180–$650
Natural gas meter and shut-off valve mounted on a basement wall.

Furnace repair

No heat, short cycling, blowing cold, error codes, pilot and ignition failures. Gas and electric, every major brand sold in BC since the nineties.

Most repairs $220–$780
Newly installed heat pump unit standing against the exterior wall of a house.

Replacement & installation

When a repair costs more than half a new unit, we say so. Heat pumps, high-efficiency furnaces, full AC systems — including the BC and federal rebate paperwork.

Mechanical room pipework with pressure gauges and shut-off valves.

Maintenance & tune-ups

The 45-minute service that stops the January 2am failure. Book the furnace in autumn, the AC in spring, or both on one visit.

What is this
going to cost me?

Fair question, and one most HVAC sites dodge. Answer three things and you'll get the honest range we'd quote over the phone. The exact number comes after we see it — free.

This estimator covers repairs. Full replacements are quoted in person after a load calculation — there's no honest way to price a new system from three dropdowns.

Who shows up

Same family.
Same four vans.
Since 2003.

A white Northline service van parked on a mountain road below snow-covered peaks.

Ray Kowalchuk started Northline out of a single van on Gordon Drive in 2003, after a decade installing furnaces for someone else. His daughter Erin runs the operation now. Ray still takes the difficult diagnostic calls, mostly because he can't help himself.

We've stayed deliberately small — four technicians, all Red Seal, all on payroll rather than subcontracted. It means we can't be everywhere. It also means the person at your door has worked here for years and will be here next winter when you call about the warranty.

We've never charged a call-out fee. Not in 23 years. Charging someone to find out what's wrong before they've agreed to anything always struck Ray as a strange way to introduce yourself.

What people say
after the cold night.

★★★★★

Furnace quit at 6am on a Tuesday in January with a newborn in the house. I called four places. Northline was the only one that said today. Technician was here by 11, had it running by 12:30. Cracked igniter, $290.

Another company told me I needed a whole new AC unit — $9,400. Ray came out, found a failed capacitor, replaced it for $240 and told me the system had six or seven years left in it. That was three summers ago and it's still running.

Heat pump died during that 40-degree stretch. They couldn't get to me until the next morning but they said so straight up instead of stringing me along, and dropped off two portable units to get us through the night. Who does that?

Questions we get
every week.

Is the call-out really free?
Yes, and it always has been. We come out, diagnose the fault, and give you a fixed written price. If you decide not to go ahead, you pay nothing and we leave. There's no trip charge, no diagnostic fee, and no minimum.
How late can I call and still get same-day service?
Call before 2pm and we can almost always get to you the same day. After 2pm it depends on what's already booked — we'll tell you honestly on the phone rather than promising and rescheduling. No heat in winter or no cooling above 35°C goes to the front of the queue regardless of the time.
What areas do you cover?
Kelowna, West Kelowna, Lake Country, Peachland and Big White. We don't charge extra for travel inside that area. Vernon and Penticton are outside our range — we'd rather tell you that than take three hours getting to you.
Which brands do you work on?
All of the major ones sold in BC: Lennox, Carrier, Bryant, Goodman, Trane, Rheem, Daikin, Napoleon and Mitsubishi. Our vans stock the parts that fail most on these units, which is why roughly four in five repairs finish on the first visit.
When is it worth replacing instead of repairing?
Our rule of thumb: if the repair costs more than half the price of a new unit and the system is past twelve years old, replacing usually wins. We'll show you both numbers and the payback on efficiency, including current BC and federal heat-pump rebates. We're not paid on installs, so there's nothing pushing us either way.
Do you offer financing?
On replacements, yes — terms from 24 to 120 months through our financing partner, with approval usually inside an hour. Repairs are payable on completion by card, e-transfer or cheque.
